Identify your final drive: type plate, part number and dimensions
The fastest way to the right final drive is the part number on the type plate of the travel motor. If the plate is missing, the excavator model, year and four measurements are enough: bolt pattern on the frame, bolt pattern on the sprocket, number of hydraulic lines and number of speeds.
Many excavator models were built with different final drives over the years. The model alone is therefore not always enough. With a part number or a few measurements, the right drive can be identified reliably.
Where to find the type plate
The type plate is usually on the motor cover of the travel motor, on the inner side of the undercarriage. You often need to remove the cover plate on the track frame to see it. Plates are often dirty or painted over. Clean the surface carefully with brake cleaner, and a photo in raking light makes stamped characters easier to read.
Which number is the right one
The plate often shows several numbers. These matter to us:
- Machine manufacturer's part number, usually a string of digits and letters with a hyphen.
- Drive type code, usually a letter code followed by a number.
- Serial number, helpful for versions that differ only in detail.
If in doubt, simply send us a photo of the plate.
Without a type plate: measurements we need
| Measurement | How to measure |
|---|---|
| Frame side mounting | Number of bolts on the frame and thread size, e.g. 9 x M12 |
| Sprocket side mounting | Number and size of bolts on the sprocket, e.g. 9 x M10 |
| Bolt circle | Distance between two opposite bolt centres (with an odd number: measure from bolt centre to the opposite gap and say so) |
| Pilot diameter | Diameter of the spigot that locates the drive in the frame |
| Hydraulic lines | Number of ports on the travel motor: 2, 3, 4 or 5 |
| Speeds | Does the machine have a button or lever for second speed? |
Step by step to your request
- Note the excavator model and year. Both are on the machine's type plate, usually at the operator's station.
- Find the type plate on the travel motor, clean it and take a photo.
- Without a plate: take the measurements from the table above.
- Open the model via search or the catalogue by brand and compare the data.
- Send a request or the photo by WhatsApp. We check the details and usually reply within 12 hours.
Several drives for one machine
Some excavators take more than one drive, depending on year and version. Bolt pattern, lines and speeds decide, and we check them before every quote.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I find the part number of my final drive?
On the type plate of the travel motor, usually on the inner side of the undercarriage behind a cover plate.
What if the type plate is missing?
Then we need the excavator model, year and the measurements: bolts on the frame and sprocket, bolt circle, pilot diameter, number of lines and speeds.
Does the final drive of another model fit?
Only if bolt pattern, hydraulic lines and speeds match. We check that before quoting. Send us the model and a photo of the type plate.
Is a photo of the type plate enough?
Yes. In most cases a clearly readable photo is enough to identify the drive.
